This book is very enlightening,
I especially liked the part about the interview starts the minute you leave the house.
The job candidate just happened to stop at the same coffee shop the interviewer stopped at on the same day, same hour. The candidate ordered coffee and was very rude to cashier, interviewer just happened to be next in line thought, that customer was very rude, both continued to their destination, interviewer was told his first candidate for the job was there prompt and on time, she walked through the door and it was the rude customer, she interviewed for the position, but the interviewer already had a sample of her demeanor, and knew beforehand she would not be a good fit for the company.
I just recently lost my job and I am having to start the interview process. I read this book hoping to get some inside knowledge to help me on my interviews. There was a lot of information in this book I think will help me on future interviews. I really liked the part on common interview mistakes. I highly recommend this for anyone who is having to find a job.
I worked in corporate America for a long time. I met Mr. Holland yesterday and bought a paperback version from him. Although I have managed a lot of employees during my tenure, I was never a guru on interviewing. I learned something from this book, actually a lot of things. Many of his explanations about impressions are correct, and also how manager's analyze candidates before they meet them. I would easily recommend this book to high school grads, young college students, students at vocational schools, the unemployed, and also those that want to gain the upper hand on their competition.
This book was amazing! It gave me a lot of insight on how the interview process really works. I would recommend this book to anyone having trouble with getting the job or interviewing
